Scylla (Street Cred, or Why I'm Doing This)

My story, and the story of how this site came to be is an unusual trip and a discussion of the friends I met along the way. I was introduced to Yu-Gi-Oh! in the summer of 2002 by my brother, of all people! Yami no Yuugi and Jounouchi vs. the Paradox Brothers during the Duelist Kingdom arc. Dub version, Kids WB.

I was hooked.

Around that time, the cards were all but impossible to find. I finally got my first pack at K-Mart - in the original Japanese. The Precious Metal Lady and the Precious Metal Valkyrie were inside.

In the meantime, I was already fairly active on the internet. I fell in love with Jounouchi first as the lovable, beautiful and hyper boy from the Bronx. I played with the characters and the storyline with friends, and wrote some [awful, horrible, terrible Mary-Sue] fanfiction. For a time, I operated as one of the artists for an "Adoptable Wolfie" website, where I drew anime characters as wolves for other people [fairly badly] and got my first taste of just how crazy fandom could be. At that point, I'd only vaguely heard of "yaoi," and "shounen-ai," and wasn't sure it was my personal cup of tea.

Things change. By 2003, with the help of a Trowa-crazy friend of mine, I'd discovered Gundam Wing. Practically my gateway drug into slash. Pretty soon I found Cowboy Bebop and was working on "Hallelujah In Blue," a Gren/Vicious story that was to be my very first venture into slash fanfic. I only vaguely touched on it in Yu-Gi-Oh!. And then...[cue overdramatic documentary music]... there was that fateful day in the Battle City arc...

"Why do I have the urge to yell 'bingo?'"

"Say it. I'll laugh."

...And that was it. Up until that point I hadn't found a pair in the series that I could really love - Honda and Otogi solved my problem for me in two lines. I found other authors who felt the same way, learned from them, tried it myself, wrote "All I Want for Christmas," and the rest - as they say - is history.

Roughly three years, a whole lot of fanfiction and new friends later, here I am.

Honda and Otogi - "Chaseshipping," as the fandom refers to them together - is still my favorite pair and probably the easiest 'ship for me to find material for. But there's something about Honda, Jou and Otogi that proves to be addictive sugar for me. There's always the challenge...once I heard it said that writing [and having] a threesome required a designated traffic controller to make sure that nobody banged their nose into someone else's elbow. Boy, were they right! Besides noses and elbows, egos tend to slam hard into one another. Feelings get hurt. Miscommunications turn into huge blowout fights.

Ah, but see? The best part is the making up. ^_~

I'm a 23-year-old graphic communications professional. In my spare time, I really love to write and draw.
